Each mascot candidate will be announced and identified by a number so that tryouts are completely anonymous. Candidates will be assigned numbers immediately prior to trying out so that numbers may not be shared with potential audience members.

Each mascot candidate will try-out individually for each phase of try-outs. No other candidates will be allowed in the gym during any phase of another candidate's try-out. Mascot try-outs will have 3 phases:

Phase 1: Personal Interview

Candidate will be interviewed by an interview committee. Committee will rank the candidates in each scoring category. Candidates do not have to dress up for this interview, it's very informal. Shorts and a t-shirt is fine! All candidates will be asked the same questions.

Phase 2: Meet & Greet and Character Interview

Candidate will enter the gym and music will be playing on the sound system. Candidate will spend 2 minutes interacting with audience members and entertaining the crowd. After this 2 minute "meet & greet" the music will fade out and the candidate will be asked questions (listed below) that they must answer non-verbally while in costume by acting out their answers.

All meet & greet audience members will rank the candidates in each scoring category.

Phase 3: 1-2 Minute Solo Skit

Candidate will enter the gym and perform a 1-2 minute skit, dance, or other entertainment block for a new audience. To indicate that your skit/dance/entertainment block is over, wave goodbye to the audience and head back to the locker room.

All Solo Skit audience members will rank the candidates in each scoring category.

Scoring:

All scoresheets of all audience members will be tallied. The candidate(s) with the LOWEST total score(s) will be selected, as this indicates that they were ranked higher on their ranking forms. For instance, if 5 candidates try out, than a ranking of 1 would be the best and 5 would be the worst, therefore the lower the total score, the higher they were ranked.
